North Coast Old Stock

Old Stock Ale is one of North Coast's most sought after and recognized beer. Each of these Old Ales come in north of 11% ABV and two of the varieties showcased below have been aged in barrels. If you're looking for a great example of how beers change by aging in different types of barrels, this sampler is for you.

  • North Coast 2016 Old Stock Ale (12 oz - 11.9% ABV): 98 on RateBeer. Top 50 - Old Ale. Old Stock Ale is brewed with classic floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Malt and Fuggles Hops imported from England. Like a fine wine, North Coast’s Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. Only a small quantity of this beer is produced each year. Expect caramel, toffee, toasted grains, and booze which mellows after aging.
  • North Coast 2014 Old Stock Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged (500 ml – 13.75% ABV): 99 on RateBeer. Old Stock Cellar is a small batch, limited release that has been aged in rye whiskey barrels. The aging process gives this world class beer an added layer of complexity. A memorable drink that should be enjoyed as a completely unique offering. Flavors of dark caramel, toffee, whiskey, oak, light vanilla come through in this medium-full body version.
  • North Coast 2014 Old Stock Wheat Whiskey Barrel Aged (500 ml – 14.1% ABV): 98 on RateBeer. Top 50 - Old Ale. This version of the above beer has been aged in wheat whiskey barrels. It's another great sipping beer and showcases similar flavors of caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, and plenty of booze. If you try alongside the beer aged in Rye whiskey barrels you'll notice the differences each type of whiskey imparts on the beer.
