Just like with fine wines, many beers are acceptable to cellar or age as they continue to change character often becoming deeper and more complex. One beer style, as the name suggests, is truly appopriate for aging, barleywine.
We've collected three different vintages of J.W. Lees Harvest Ale. This barleywine is brewed once on December 1st of each year to celebrate the harvest and uses classic barley (Maris Otter) and classic Goldings (East Kent).
J.W. Lees Harvest Ale 2011, 2012, and 2013 vintages (275ml)- 99 on RateBeer. Limited edition Barleywines made by a family run English brewery who's been producing real ale since 1828. And in this case, really strong ale at 11.5% ABV. Past vintages have sold for $60 per bottle so consider it an investment, a liquid appreciating asset for you finance types.
