BFM (Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes) is a small artisinal brewery in Switzerland started by a trained oenologist (wine maker) in 1997. Thye've become known for barrel aged beers and using non-traditional ingredients. Check out our triple play which features three of their creations.
BFM Square Root 225 Anniversary Sour Saison (330 ml- 6.0% ABV) - 99 on RateBeer. The little sister of the below Bon Chien's. It's slightly sour and bitter having been aged in oak barrels for 4 to 5 months. This aged soured beer is then blended with fresh beer to create an easy drinking, yet complex creation.
BFM Abbaye de St. Bon Chien 2014 (750 ml- 11% ABV) - 97 on RateBeer. A biere de garde aged in old wine barrels for one year. After a year, different barrels are blended together for compexity and to combine flavors from different casks. It's one of the more unique sour beers owing to its mixed fermentation, first from wine yeast and then from microrganisms that give it the characteristic sour profile. Set aside a few of these beers as they are perfect to age and enjoy in a few years.
BFM Abbaye de St. Bon Chien 2015 (750 ml- 11% ABV) - 97 on RateBeer. 2015 version.
